Thrifty Tip: Get Creative with Your Pancakes

Today’s thrifty tip is a little more creative than the past few I’ve posted. Let’s discuss powdered just add water pancake mix. So glamorous, cheap, and absolutely full of the potential to be boring. I love to spruce up this neglected pantry staple to make lazy mornings a little more delicious. Here’s some ideas that I use pretty often. Try to mix and match them around and figure out your perfect combination.

– add 1 egg into the batter to make things fluffy and add protein
– add chopped walnuts or chopped almonds
– add bananas, strawberries, or blueberries
– substitute vanilla soy milk, chocolate soy milk, or almond milk for the water in the recipe
– give in to your inner child by adding chocolate chips or peanut butter chips
– add 1 tsp or ground cinnamon and/or 1 tsp of cocoa powder

My personal favorite will always be banana chocolate chip with cinnamon in the batter- tastes just like the trashy diner down the street at a fraction of the delivery cost.

Happy experimenting!
